FS police confiscate suspected stolen money worth R981 380─── 15:42 Thu, 26 Feb 2015
Springfontein - A 47-year-old man has been arrested outside Springfontein and money worth thousands confiscated.
Free State police say police and the traffic department held a road block at Hillside on the N1 yesterday.
While the officers were busy with stop and search actions and testing vehicles for roadworthiness a Toyota Hilux was also stopped. The driver could not produce his driver’s licence. The vehicle was then searched.
The police found a big sealed box with cash notes, to the value of more than R981 000, neatly packed inside. The driver couldn’t give straight answers where the money was coming from nor where it was going and he was arrested on the spot.
He will appear in court soon on charges of being in possession of suspect stolen money.
