Agriculture minister reassures grain farmers | News Article

Bothaville - Agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana has told farmers that government is aware of the threats presented by the drought situation and will ensure relevant stakeholders look into the way forward.

Zokwana has just finished delivering his keynote address at the annual Grain SA Congress underway at Nampo Park just outside Bothaville in the Free State. Zokwana says one of the priorities will be to ensure producers are in a position to continue their farming operations in the next season and thereby ensure food security for the country. Commenting on some of the controversial land reform statements making headlines, Zokwana admitted that these could sow confusion. He has invited farmers to come up with counter-proposals. Zokwana told the congress he considers himself not just a minister of agriculture, but an ambassador for farmers. The congress continues. Sabrina Dean/OFM News
