Bothaville - Veteran journalist Max du Preez says he is of the view that President Jacob Zuma’s statements during his State of the Nation Address about land ceilings and the 50/50 policy are little more than rhetoric.
He shared this opinion during a one-on-one interview with OFM News at the annual Grain SA Congress in Bothaville this week.
He says it is important to take note of the broader political status quo when reacting to statements such as this.
Du Preez, who headed up the panel discussions at the congress, in which agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana also participated, told OFM News he was very pleasantly surprised by what the minister said.

He highlights Zokwana’s repeated promises that farms will not be taken without compensation, his recognition that food security is crucial, and his reassurances that government wants to work with the Agriculture community to find solutions to land reform.
