Police monitoring public violence situation near Brits─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 13:11 Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Brits - Police in North West are monitoring the situation at Jericho near Brits after protesters set alight a councillor's house as well as a tribal council office last night.
This comes after protests erupted yesterday over poor water supply in Letlhabile. Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says the reason for the Jericho residents' protest is still unknown. Residents in both areas blocked roads yesterday and closed schools, clinics and businesses.
According to him two foreign owned shops were also looted before the buildings were set alight in Jericho.
Sabata says four people arrested yesterday are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court today on charges of public violence. According to him the road to Brits is still barricaded.
