'SA has a long way to go before race isn't an issue' | News Article

Bloemfontein - The new younger generation of South Africa is growing up in a different country and matters of race are now being challenged.

This is according to former Constitutional Court Judge Albie Sachs in response to the current and future standing of our democratic country.

Sachs says while Nelson Mandela helped destroy racial barriers, the country still has a long way to go before race is no longer an issue.

Sachs says what he found striking about the generation of Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo and Walter and Albertina Sisulu is the amount of patience they had.

He gave an intense lecture at the University of the Free State elaborating on how creative arts can represent trauma and prompt the road to reconciliation.
