Community healthcare workers in court again─── 11:24 Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Bloemfontein - There is uncertainty over whether the case against the approximately 129 community healthcare workers will proceed in the Bloemfontein Regional Court today.
The workers, who marched from Pelonomi District Hospital in Bloemfontein to the courthouse this morning, are demanding that the case against them be withdrawn.
They were arrested in July last year and charged with contravening the Regulations of Gatherings Act 205 of 1993 during a sit-in they staged at the provincial health headquarters against their dismissal.
Mark Heywood, a director of public interest law centre Section27 – says the cost of the court case is running into thousands of Rands.
