Welkom - Swift reaction by members of the Community Policing Forum in Thabong in Welkom last night lead to the prevention of the looting of a foreign owned shop in Extension 2010.
This comes after a group of CPF members alerted police by blowing whistles when between 15 and 20 locals attempted to loot a shop owned by a Bangladeshi national at around 19:00.
Police spokesperson, Mamello Mokhuoane, says whistles are provided by police to the CPF annually.
The would-be robbers ran away when police arrived on the scene. No arrests were made.
Mokhuoane says police are monitoring the situation. No injuries were reported.
