Bangladesh national stabbed, robbed in Taung─── 09:10 Sun, 26 Apr 2015
Taung - Police in North West say an attack on a Bangladesh national in Taung is not linked to recent xenophobic attacks across the country.
Spokesperson Pelonomi Makau says the incident occurred on Thursday.
A 26-year-old Bangladesh national was buying stock for his business when he was approached by four suspects and attacked with a knife. The suspects allegedly took R10 000 and stabbed the victim in his right hand.
Makau says the man was treated at hospital and thereafter went with police to the scene of crime where he managed to identify one suspect who was arrested. The three remaining suspects are still at large.
The arrested suspect will appear in the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of armed robbery.
