Bloemfontein - The Free State department of cooperative governance and traditional affairs is going to fork out some R90 million to pay for 40 Cuban engineers, the majority of whom have just arrived in Bloemfontein.
Although some will be placed at rural municipalities, the department will pay their salaries, accommodation and a return flight to Cuba once a year.
Free State premier Ace Magashule says the engineers signed a three-year contract.
