No arrests yet after Heidedal shootout─── THANDI XABA 11:15 Sat, 30 May 2015
Bloemfontein - Police are still searching for suspects after a shootout in Twin City Mall in Heidedal, Bloemfontein yesterday.
Police spokesperson Harry Nagel says a police officer was shot in the hand after a group of men in a bakkie, dressed in overalls and balaclavas, robbed a chain store, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
They further robbed a liquor outlet taking several expensive bottles of liquor. Some of the men managed to flee while others were involved in a shoot-out with police responding to the complaint.
Nagel says the police officer will be operated on today.
No further injuries were reported. Police have opened a case of business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder.
