Contract awarded to service provider at state garage in the Free State | News Article

Bloemfontein - Service delivery especially by police in the Free State has been held up in the last eight months due to a backlog at the province’s state garage.

MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Butana Komphela, told OFM News there has been a serious backlog at the garage where vehicles from various state departments, including police vehicles, are serviced and repaired.

He says this is due to the process of appointing a new contractor after the contract expired.

Komphela says a new service provider has meanwhile been awarded the contract and the situation will improve in the coming months.

Komphela says it is unacceptable that vehicles used by police members to serve and protect are piling up in the state garage waiting to be repaired. He says the matter is being treated as urgent.
