Burnt baby found in a plastic bag in the Bloemfontein CBD─── 07:12 Thu, 02 Jul 2015
Bloemfontein – A body of a newly born baby girl was found wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped near the railway line in the Bloemfontein Central Business District (CBD), police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Chaka Marope said the baby was discovered on Tuesday at 05:30 by a passerby.
“The gruesome discovery was made by a passerby when he tried to empty the plastic bag that was in the rubbish corner and alerted police who were in the vicinity.”
Marope said the body was found with burn wounds on the face and on the right hand.
“The baby was wearing a pink baby gown and estimated to be two to three weeks old.”
No arrests have been made and a case of murder has been registered for further investigation.
