Viljoenskroon - Three suspects including a police constable have appeared in a Free State court on charges of housebreaking and theft.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thandi Mbambo said the suspects appeared in Viljoenskroon Magistrate's court on Friday.
“Constable Thembile Lennox Mbona, 33, was released on bail of R1,000 and the other two suspects, Mpiyakhe July, 22, and Nthotho Seitshero, 19, were remanded in custody.”
Mbambo said the suspects, Mpiyakhe and Nthotho, were arrested on Tuesday the 30 June after the house of a female police constable stationed at Viljoenskroon SAPS was broken into and goods valued at R10,500, including a Plasma TV, DVD players with speakers, Defy microwave, decoder and Cavella bags were stolen.
“On Thursday 02 July 2015, Constable Mbona, also stationed at Viljoenskroon SAPS was arrested after it was revealed during investigation that he is allegedly the mastermind behind the housebreaking and theft incident. All stolen items were recovered at the constable`s place of residence. The suspects will all appear again in court on the 8 July.”
