NWU sheds light on how to curb the rhino horn hangover─── DANE BEISHEIM 07:47 Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Potchefstroom - The North West University (NWU) says new research could pave the way to changing the Vietnamese population's attitude towards rhino horn.
The research was undertaken by the NWU's Tourism Research in Economic Environs and Society research unit (TREES).
Vietnam is the world's largest consumer of illicit rhino horn products. It is mostly used for health-related conditions and also to reduce hangovers. It is also believed to have detoxification qualities and to cure life-threatening illnesses such as cancer.
Rhino horn is also often used during business transactions and especially to seal deals.
