Bloemfontein woman dies after getting trapped under bus─── 06:46 Sat, 01 Aug 2015
Bloemfontein - A woman was killed on Friday evening after after she lost balance, fell and got hit by a bus while attempting to cross Harvey street in Bloemfontein, paramedics said.
"The woman lost her balance and fell in front of the bus. The bus then drove over the woman and immediately came to a standstill resulting in the woman being trapped underneath the bus," Netcare911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.
Specialised rescue equipment from the fire department was used to remove the woman from underneath the bus.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was initially in a critical condition after being rescued, but deteriorated shortly afterwards and succumbed to her injuries.
"There was nothing further that could be done for the woman and she was declared dead at the scene," Steinmann said.
