Exceptional disabled women honoured in Bloemfontein | News Article

Bloemfontein - Exceptional South African women with disabilities are honoured by the Mangaung Metro this week during a three day event in Bloemfontein.

Mangaung’s Deputy Mayor, Connie Rampai welcomed women from around the country at the City Hall on Wednesday.

According to Musa Zulu, from Valhalla Arts, the Tributes 2015 Excellence Awards is a special annual initiative that recognizes and honours women with disabilities who are continuously making a difference in their own lives and that of the communities they live in.

The Tributes will take place for the first time in Bloemfontein on Friday.

It started in KwaZulu-Natal in 2010. Zulu says 62 women have been honoured since then.

He says the mayor of the eThekwini Metro will be in town on Friday to officially hand over the awards to the Mangaung Metro.

On Thursday there will be an expo, where disabled people will display their work at 50 stands.

Zulu says one of the main challenges that people with disabilities face, is self-doubt.
