Presidency warns of fake Zuma Facebook account | News Article

Johannesburg - The Presidency has warned people of a fake Facebook account purporting to be that of President Jacob Zuma.

"The president does not have a personal Facebook account," spokesperson Bongani Majola said in a statement on Saturday.

"The official Facebook page of the Presidency is: https://www.facebook.com/PresidencyZA."

The Gauteng provincial government also warned of a fake Facebook account said it belong to Premier David Makhura.

"The premier’s office wishes to place it on record that Premier David Makhura does not have any personal Facebook account," spokesperson Nino Zama said in a statement.

"All information pertaining to Premier David Makhura’s official activities are updated on the Gauteng provincial government official accounts."

Zama said all updated made on the Facebook account must be ignored.

Last month, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu office also warned of false social media accounts in his name.

The office of the premier warned that there were a number of fake Facebook and Twitter accounts purporting to be its office.

In the past there have been fake social media accounts claiming to be those of former deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe, Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande, National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete and Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene.
