Case against two presidential protection unit members postponed | News Article

Potchefstroom - Two members of President Jacob Zuma's presidential protection unit will be back in the Potchefstroom magistrate's court on September 15.

The matter was postponed today so that the defense and state could prepare their final arguments. Sankoela Lepota and Malose Makonyane both stand accused of attempted murder.

They are also charged with reckless driving and pointing a firearm. The incident occured in August 2013 on the N12 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp.

Lepota and Makonyane were traveling from Pretoria to Kimberley when they allegedly fired a shot at a green Uno, which hit the vehicle's left front tyre.

The occupants of the vehicle, Schalk and Nadine Enslin, were not injured in the incident.

The two police officers allegedly then drove away from the scene without providing their details or reporting the matter.
