SA expats spend around five years abroad─── THANDI XABA 16:55 Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Cape Town - South Africa's citizens abroad say they spend about five years living comfortably in mainly English-speaking social circles and in top management positions.
This is according to this year's Expat Insider, which also found that the top three countries for South African expatriates are the United Arab Emirates, Mozambique and Germany.
The survey also found that 25% of South Africans abroad were identified as employees or managers whereas only 11% of expats of other nationalities stated the same.
The survey also shows that of the South Africans polled, over 20% have children and the three main factors they considered before moving abroad were personal safety, cost of living and economic and labour market.
South Africa was rated as the 18th best destination for families because of the availability of childcare and education. More than 14 000 individuals from 170 nationalities in 195 countries of residence participated in the survey.
