No arrests yet after Harrismith farm murder | News Article

Harrismith - A search for two men wanted in connection with the murder of an elderly farm manager at Harrismith at the weekend continues.

Free State police spokesperson, Mmako Mophoring, says police are following up all possible leads after Robert Rhadebe died in his house on the farm Silo. Rhadebe and his wife Martha were attacked by two robbers on Friday evening.

The couple sustained stab wounds when the men turned up at their house pretending to buy wood. An injured Martha managed to crawl to a nearby house for help after the robbers tied them up and dragged the injured Robert to another room in the house.

Meanwhile Provincial Chairperson of the African Farmers’ Association of South Africa (AFASA), Shadrack Mbele, says the family believes the robbers had insight and knew Rhadebe had money in his possession from his timber business that he ran on the side. Mophoring says the attackers also new Mbele recently sold some of his cattle.
