Three people have been arrested for the planned assassination of a Bloemfontein jogger.

Bloemfontein - Three people appeared in the local Magistrate's Court on Thursday afternoon in connection with the attack on a woman who went jogging in Albrecht Street, Dan Pienaar, on July 31. The case has been postponed to September 8 for a formal bail application.

Police spokesperson, Wendy Nkabi, says the three are facing charges of attempted murder after the jogger, who wishes not to be identified, sustained serious injuries after a man allegedly attacked her with a rock and left her for dead in the cold. She was found at around 07:00.

The Le Roux’s were led to the Parkroad holding cells and Brummer to the Groenvlei prison. Adv. Willem Edeling told the court that Brummer alleged that police assaulted him whilst in custody. The magistrate ordered Brummer be examined.

Edeling told the court that Chandré is a cancer patient and that she needs chemotherapy, to which the court agreed.
