Flooding a possibility for NW this weekend – weather service─── DANE BEISHEIM 13:15 Fri, 04 Sep 2015
Lichtenburg - There is a possibility of flash floods in North West during the course of the weekend.
This is according to the SA Weather Service, and follows a devastating hail and rainstorm in Lichtenburg last night which has effectively brought businesses in the town to a standstill. 83mm of rain was recorded overnight.
According to Ditsobotla Municipal spokesperson Pius Batsile, the town's council is still in meetings discussing contingency plans to address the situation, which has seen multiple businesses closed today as workers try to dislodge hail from gutters and dry out offices.
Meanwhile, SA Weather's Sihle Kunene says heavy rains are still expected for the province today which could lead to localised flooding in the northern parts of the province.
