Free State roads still busy─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:37 Sat, 03 Oct 2015
Bloemfontein - Traffic volumes on main routes in the Free State increased since yesterday with inland schools closing for the holidays.
The Department of Police, Roads and Transport expects roads will continue to be busy today but traffic volumes will return back to normal by tomorrow when most travellers would have reached their destination.
Spokesperson Hillary Mophete urges drivers to be safe on the road and adhere to speed limits and road signs. She says road users should drive with caution at all times and be vigilant, especially road construction sites.
“We expect road users to wear safety belts at all times, they should not use cellphones while driving.” She adds drivers should also take time to rest as fatigue is one of the main contributors to road fatalities.
Roads that will experience high traffic volumes include the N1, N3, N4 N5 and N8.
