Potchefstroom - There have been six incidents of dog poisoning reported in the Miederpark area of Potchefstroom in North West since Monday.

The SPCA's Darren Kruger says while such incidents are not uncommon in farming areas or around smallholdings, it is suspicious that they were reported in a suburban area. He added that in all cases the insecticide known as "Two-step" was used.

Kruger said in cases where the dogs had died, the SPCA saw to it that they were properly disposed of to avoid further poisoning.

Meanwhile North West police spokesperson Mvula Chaka urged residents to be aware of the threat of house robberies and to report any suspicious vehicles or individuals to the police.
