Human remains still at MH17 crash site | News Article
More than a week after Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 came down in rebel-held eastern Ukraine, human remains are still at the crash site.

AFP reports that the majority of the 298 people killed when the plane was apparently shot down by a missile were Dutch, but there were also 28 Australian nationals and nine permanent residents on board.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott is sending 190 Australian Federal Police to the Netherlands, along with a small number of the Australian Defence Force personnel, to participate in a planned Dutch-led operation to secure the crash site.

Meanwhile, the family of a South African pilot killed when a Malaysia Airlines plane crashed in the Ukraine have appealed for their privacy to respected.

Cameron Dalziel was on Flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, when it crashed in eastern Ukraine last Thursday.

The family would also like to correct media reports concerning the cancellation of Cameron's credit cards and that calls to his mobile phone were answered after the crash.

They said the cards were cancelled for security reasons.
