Children of politicians should not depend on their name to get ahead in life: Mantashe─── 16:26 Tue, 29 Jul 2014
Johannesburg - ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says the children of politicians should not depend on their name to get ahead in life.
He told reporters in Johannesburg he often tells his children there is no qualification called a Mantashe and that they need to study to survive in life.
Mantashe was responding to a question about reports that President Jacob Zuma's daughter Thuthukile, 25, was appointed chief of staff at the telecommunications and postal services department, making her the youngest head of a minister's office.
According to the Mail&Guardian, Thuthukile would earn almost R1 million a year in the post, which it appears was never advertised.
