R1.1 billion in unauthorised expenditure discussed | News Article

Pretoria - Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) is expected to deal with unauthorised expenditure to the tune of more than R1.1 billion in three different Government departments from today.

National Treasury is scheduled to brief the Committee today on alleged unauthorised expenditure of R37,4-million by the Department of Trade and Industry, about R45-million by the Presidency and R1.1-billion by Home Affairs.
 
Prior to this, treasury is expected to brief the committee on what actually constitutes irregular, unauthorised and fruitless expenditure.
