DA expected to win final battle for spy tapes today─── SABRINA DEAN 07:56 Thu, 28 Aug 2014
Bloemfontein - A legal battle that has been raging for years should come to an end today when the Supreme Court of Appeal is expected to hand down a court order that will give the DA access to the controversial spy tapes.
Party leader Hellen Zille will be present in Bloemfontein this morning for what the party considers a “significant” moment.
James Selfe, Chairperson of the DA’s Federal Executive, says they can now finally evaluate whether the decision to drop corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma in 2009 was rational:
According to Sapa, the SCA is today expected to confirm whether an agreement between the various legal teams will be made a court order.
The agreement included the appointment of a third party, retired Judge Noel Hurt, to review documentation to determine what formed part of confidential representations of Zuma to the NPA.
The case relates back to a 2009 decision by acting NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe to withdraw fraud and corruption charges against Zuma.
