Zuma to host SADC Troika─── 17:26 Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma is expected to host a SADC Troika Summit in Pretoria this evening to discuss developments in the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The summit comes after Zuma, who is also chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Security and Defence, conducted a working visit to Lesotho last week.
Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane was recently forced to flee to South Africa over safety concerns following an alleged coup attempt.
The summit is also expected to review progress on a voluntary disarmament in the DRC. This involves the disarmament and surrender of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, or FDLR.
Proceedings are expected to get underway around 17:00 and to continue late into the night.
