• 1930: 1st football game in Atlantic City Convention Center.
• 1980: The SA rugby team wins the second test against South America in Santiago 30-16, to win the series 2-0.
• 1982: David Hookes scores Cricket century in 34 balls 43 mins, SA v Victoria
• 1997: Western Province wins the rugby Currie Cup by beating Free State 14-12 in Newlands, Cape Town.
