Potchefstroom - The National Council of SPCAs reports that conditions have improved on the farm owned by former North West Premier Thandi Modise.
Modise is the current National Council of Provinces chairwoman. Nearly 60 pigs were found starving and cannibalising one another on the farm Modderfontein near Potchefstroom earlier this year.
According to spokesperson Grace de Lange there is now co-operation with the NSPCA regarding animal welfare issues and also matters relating to access to the property and general communications.
The criminal charges of animal cruelty against Modise are with the National Prosecuting Authority. A court date has yet to be issued.
