Historical Events:

• 1931: Nationally Crisis Committee forms in Hague.
• 1972: Passports have been withdrawn from three White staff members of the joint Institute of Race Relations.
• 1975: A newly formed extreme right-wing organisation, the Afrikaner Resistance Movement, is being investigated by the authorities.
• 1942: Col-gen Von Paul asks Hitler to surrender.
• 2005: Police find 46kg of cocaine worth R21 million in a box in the cargo section of Johannesburg International Airport. A man with a false South African identity document is arrested when he collects the box.

Arts, Music, TV:

• 1936: 1st issue of Life, picture magazine created by Henry R Luce is published.
• 1946: "Gypsy Lady" closes at Century Theater NYC after 79 performances.
• 1963: "Doctor Who" the long-running British sci-fi series debuts.
• 1964: Beatles release "I Feel Fine" & "She's a Woman".
• 1979: Pink Floyd's "The Wall" released, sells 6 million copies in 2 weeks.

Sports:

• 1864: Herbert Hayton Castens, first SA rugby captain and also captain of the first SA cricket team to tour overseas, is born in Somerset East.
• 1912: The SA rugby team beats Scotland 16-0 in Edinburgh.
• 1967: Gary Kirsten, SA cricket player and stepbrother of Peter Kirsten, is born in Cape Town.
• 2005: SuperSport United coach Pitso Mosimane is fined R50 000 at a PSL disciplinary hearing following the heated altercation with Sundowns' coach Angel Cappa during the recent 2-2 Premier League derby draw against SuperSport United at Loftus. SuperSport was fined R10 000, which was suspended. The case against Cappa is been postponed until 28 November at Sundowns' request.
