SA Post Office reaches agreement with two unions─── SABRINA DEAN 12:23 Fri, 21 Nov 2014
Johannesburg - The SA Post Office says it has reached an agreement with two of the three unions whose members have been striking for about four months.
Leader of the intervention team, Simo Lushaba, said in a statement the Allied Workers Union (Sapawu) and the Democratic Postal and Communications Union (Depacu), which collectively represent 61% of the employees at bargaining level, have agreed to an increase of 6,5%.
This would be effective from 1 December 2014.
He says the conversion of part-time and casual employees into full-time employment also forms part of the agreement and will commence from 1 December 2014.
Full benefits will only become effective on 1 April 2015 and the full conversion will be completed within 24 months.
