More fire-fighters called in to tackle blazes across WC─── 16:47 Mon, 02 Mar 2015
Cape Town - An extra 250 firefighters were called in to tackle blazes across the Western Cape.
MEC for provincial environmental affairs, Anton Bredell, says they decided to bring in reinforcements and further aerial support because fire crews are exhausted.
He says the department wants to stabilise the situation across the province. Several large fires across the province had continued at the weekend and into this morning.
Bredell says fires on the mountains around Muizenberg have still not been brought under control.
Aerial bombardment was difficult due to prevailing weather conditions. Ou Kaapse Weg, Chapman's Peak Drive, and Boyes drive have been closed to traffic until further notice.
