Bloemfontein - Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the world today.
The Independent Identity Verification's Dawid Jacobs says to curb the rise of this crime, the Department of Home Affairs has partnered with various banks to allow consumers to apply for smart cards at their bank.
The Department announced in February that citizens will be able to apply at selected FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank branches as of April.
