Numsa must rethink its strategy: Analyst | News Article

Johannesburg - Metalworkers union, Numsa must re-think its strategy if it wants the Workers Party to succeed.

Political analyst Sanusha Naidu's comments come after Numsa held a Conference for Socialism in Johannesburg last week.

The meeting was a launch pad for the formation of the Workers Party as well as a new federation.

Reports say the EFF snubbed the invitation after its leaders failed to meet Numsa ahead of the gathering. They say the two day affair was attended by a small group of left wing organisations.

Numsa was expelled from trade union federation Cosatu last year after it withdrew its support of the ANC in last year’s  general election, which went against Cosatu’s constitution.

Naidu says it remains to be seen whether Numsa will succeed in its mission.
