Sithole murder case postponed to May | News Article

Johannesburg - The case of four men accused of killing Emmanuel Sithole was postponed in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The matter will be back in court on May 4. Mthinto Bhengu, Sizwe Mngomezulu, Ayanda Sibiya and Sifundi Mzimela remain in custody.

Sithole, 35, died after he was brutally stabbed in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg over the weekend. The Sunday Times published pictures showing the Mozambican national being attacked.

This followed attacks on foreign nationals and looting of their shops which began over two weeks ago in Isipingo, outside of Durban and spread to other areas across the country.

Earlier on Tuesday, supporters of the African National Congress picketed outside the court, calling for bail not to be granted bail to Sithole’s alleged killers.

Clad in t-shirts condemning xenophobia, they carried placards written, “No bail for Sithole’s killers”, while shouting “No bail!” Gauteng premier David Makhura, safety and security MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane and top NPA officials were in court.
