Millions could be suffering allergies because of workplace─── 15:51 Fri, 22 May 2015
Durban - A pharmaceutical firm that specialises in allergies believes millions of South Africans could be suffering increased allergy symptoms because of their workplace.
According to a study by Pharma Dynamics, the symptoms of more than a quarter of the 1 300 respondents worsened while at work.
The most common symptoms that came out of the survey include a blocked nose, headache, runny nose, unexplained fatigue, itchy or watery eyes, dry throat and breathing difficulties.
It has found that among the contributing factors is that most offices are not properly ventilated or cleaned often enough.
The company's Wilmi Hudsonberg says this in turn affects the productivity of employees.
