MTN gets interdict against strikers─── 11:32 Sat, 13 Jun 2015
Johannesburg - Cellphone service provider MTN has been granted a Labour Court interdict restraining striking employees and participants from coming within a 100 metre radius of any MTN premises for the duration of the strike.
MTN says in a statement that the strike by members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has been marred by violence and intimidation since it began last month and that it sought the interdict to safeguard its employees and to protect its facilities and infrastructure.
Chief human resources officer Themba Nyathi says an independent arbitrator should be appointed to adjudicate on the impasse with CWU and that they will abide by the findings of the arbitrator.
