Be honest when submitting tax returns: SARS─── 07:17 Thu, 02 Jul 2015
Pretoria - The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is encouraging taxpayers to be honest when submitting their tax returns.
The 2015 Tax Season began at midnight last night.
The Revenue Service's Luther Lebelo says every year they are faced with the problem of people who inflate numbers hoping to get money from SARS.
He warns there are severe consequences in trying to defraud the service.
The deadline for filing tax returns manually by post or by dropping them off at a SARS branch is 30 September 2015.
For all non-provisional taxpayers the deadline is 27 November 2015, and for provisional taxpayers who submit returns via eFiling the deadlines is 29 January 2016.
