Home Affairs official in court for corruption─── 11:18 Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Pretoria - A senior official at the department of Home Affairs in Pretoria appeared briefly in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday following his arrest on charges of corruption, the Hawks said.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said Elisha Matsipa, 43, was arrested on Monday after he allegedly assisted a Pakistani national Wahdat Hussain, 30, to fraudulently obtain a South African passport, identity document and a marriage certificate.
“Initial investigations have revealed that Matsipa received an amount of R23,000 from Hussain.”
Hussain, who was arrested a fortnight ago, joined his co-accused in court on Monday. Their case was postponed to July 20 for a formal bail application.
