Pretoria - The Reserve Bank has increased rates by 0.25%.
The repo rate is now 6% and the prime lending rate 9.5%.
South African Reserve Bank Governor, Lesetja Kganyago says four MPO members voted for the hike and two wanted it unchanged.
Most economists believed the rate would be upped, even after the CPI yesterday came in lower-than-expected at 4.7%.
