Metro cops shot while directing traffic─── 10:15 Mon, 03 Aug 2015
Johannesburg - Two Johannesburg metro police officers who were directing traffic in Ivory Park, Midrand, are in a serious condition after being shot by a pedestrian, the metro police department said on Monday.
They were controlling traffic at an intersection where a traffic light was out of order at around 19:50 on Sunday night, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
"The sergeant was shot twice in the upper body and in both legs while the other officer was shot in the neck."
Both men are being treated at the Sunninghill Hospital.
"No arrests have been made yet," said Minnaar, adding that police were following leads.
