Lamola: Don't go to courts over leadership | News Article

Midrand - Former ANC Youth League deputy president, Ronald Lamola, has called on disgruntled members not satisfied with the outcome of the league's leadership election not to approach the courts.

The SABC reports Lamola was unable to qualify to be appointed as the new president.

Several requests for a recount of votes was dismissed by the ANC's national task team and the Independent Electoral Commission. Lamola says he will accept the result, although he does not regard it as credible.

Northwest MEC for local government, Collen Maine was elected the new president uncontested. Meanwhile, political analyst Lesiba Tefo also believes the election deeply flawed, saying it will leave a lasting impression on the league.

He says people are positioning themselves and as they position themselves the divisions are becoming more distinct.
