SAIRR to release crime stats─── 06:22 Wed, 23 Sep 2015
Johannesburg – The SA Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) will on Wednesday release its crime and security report.
This comes ahead of the police releasing their own annual crime update later this month.
According to an SAIRR study released in December last year, Limpopo was the safest province in the country and the Western Cape the most dangerous.
The study measured crime rankings according to statistics on murder, robbery and assault.
While the Western Cape fared badly when it came to protecting its residents from harm, the province was best in terms of health, service delivery and social well-being.
In January national police commissioner Riah Phiyega rejected the SAIRR’s report into police involvement in crime, saying it was motivated by “malicious intent”.
