ANCYL distances itself from Ramaphosa report | News Article

Durban - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal has distanced itself from claims in the Sunday Times yesterday that it will not be backing ANC deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa, should he seek the party presidency.

According to the report, a youth league delegation had a meeting with Ramaphosa while he was in the province last week and broke the news to him that current AU Commission chairperson, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, was their preferred candidate.

Last week, Ramaphosa gave a Freedom Charter address in Pietermaritzburg where he praised and encouraged the ANCYL and danced with them, according to ANCYL spokesperson, Kwazi Mshengu.

The party's provincial secretary, Sihle Zikalala, says KZN has confidence in Ramaphosa.
