Judgment expected in DJ murder trial | News Article

Johannesburg - Judgment is expected to be handed down on murder accused and former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai at a Johannesburg court on Tuesday.

Sebolai is accused of killing girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala, who bled to death in his bed at his flat in Soweto in June last year.

She had a stab wound from the pubic area to her thigh, puncturing an artery.

Sebolai has denied killing Tshabalala. He has alleged that she got injured as they struggled over a knife that she had used to stab him while accusing him of cheating.

Sebolai went missing for nine days before he was cornered by police.

Prior to final arguments, pathologist Dr Paul Morule told the court on September 2 he at first thought Tshabalala's thigh wound could not have killed her.

Sebolai has previously testified that he was unaware of the severity of Tshabalala's wound which was why he did not immediately rush her to hospital.

"I did not see any possible causes of death. This wound did not convince me of a possible cause of death because of its location," Dr Paul Morule told the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, where judgment will be handed down.

"That part of the body does not have vital organs or tissue."

He did earlier admit on the same day he did not do any nail scrapings on Tshabalala, as there was nothing there "that caught his attention".

Tshabalala had no other injuries on her except the stab wound on her thigh which caused her death, he said.
