Bloemfontein - The Free State Crinums shone at the opening weekend on the inaugural Bruit Fruit Netball Cup.
The Free State side won both their opening matches during Netball first ever semi-professional Netball League.
On Saturday the Crinums beat rivals, the North West Flames 38-37 in a thrilling match, with Proteas Maryke Holtzhausen being named player of the match.
In yesterday’s second match they beat Golden Fireballs from Gauteng 43-37 at the University of Pretoria, with Ané Botha being named player of the match.
This coming Saturday at 17:30 the Crinums are up against the Eastern Aloes in a televised match, while on Sunday they do battle against the Jaguars from Cape Town at 12:00 noon in another televised fixture.
The North West Flames face the Eastern Aloes as well on Saturday with a 10:30 start, before taking on the Golden Fireballs on Sunday at 15:00.
The Diamonds from the Northern Cape do battle against the Sunbrids (Mpumalanga) at 19:00 on Saturday and are up against the Southern Stings (Port Elizabeth) at 10:30 on Sunday.
