Bloemfontein - The South African women’s hockey team have missed out on the play-offs for the Hockey World Cup in The Hague.
This comes after the Proteas lost 4-2 to the pool leaders, the USA, in their final group game yesterday.
Although, the English helped the South African’s by beating Germany 3-1, a win was needed by the Proteas in order to finish in the top four of the group.
They now face Japan in the ninth and tenth place play-off on Friday.
The same side who the South Africans were most unfortunate to lose to in the 2012 London Olympics in the same battle for ninth spot.
