Online resource to improve extension in agriculture─── SABRINA DEAN 17:03 Tue, 17 Feb 2015
Kimberley - The Northern Cape Agriculture department has hailed an online agriculture decision support system as a tool to put information at the fingertips of extension practitioners, thereby enabling them to bridge the gap between researchers and farmers.
Spokesperson Phemelo Manankong says Extension Suite Online (ESO), developed by Manstrat Agricultural Information Solutions, provides extension officers with immediate access to information, even while visiting far-flung farmers.
He says since 2010, more than 2000 extension practitioners across the country have been trained on using the ESO system, with 71 of these in the Northern Cape.
